Floating Polychromes

Developed for the courtyard of the Orient-Institut Istanbul, the project engages with the layered histories of the Institute’s new home in the former Teutonia Club building in Beyoğlu. Responding to the site’s architectural, social, and political memory, Vert’s intervention reflects on questions of belonging, displacement, cultural entanglement, and transformation.

The work enters into dialogue with the complex German-Turkish history embedded within the building — once a meeting place for Istanbul’s German-speaking communities and today a space dedicated to research, exchange, and contemporary cultural production. Through sculptural and spatial elements, Floating Polychromes explores how historical traces continue to resonate within present-day urban and cultural landscapes.
